For about 19 years (1988-2007), my job duties as translator in the University of Alexandria included translating official documents( agreements, contracts, certificates), incoming and outgoing official correspondence, reference books, research abstracts, etc. Before 1988, and for another 16 years, I worked as teacher of English in Egyptian secondary schools. Yet, all through my career as teacher , I spent hundreds of hours doing translation jobs for postgraduate students preparing for their Master’s and PhD degrees, both from English into Arabic and from Arabic into English, a practice which made me highly qualified for the translation jobs I was given in the University of Alexandria and with the Royal Saudi Naval Forces Headquarters in Riyadh . With the advent of computers and the information technology revolution going on throughout the world, I managed to cope with these developments and I can adequately use the computer in my work and utilize the internet both through the e-mail service and the search engines. About 7 years ago I worked as "sub-contractor" for translators with the United Nations agencies (FAO, IFAD, ITU, etc.). Two years ago I started work (using the net) as backup translator for the United Nations Environment Programme UNEP in addition to my officially certified job with the University of Alexandria . So far, I did about seven jobs for the UNEP
